Regulations

CARREFOUR WARSAW HALFMARATHON RACE REGULATIONS



I. THE ORGANIZER

3rd Carrefour Warsaw Halfmarathon is organized by the Warsaw Marathon Foundation.

II. DATE AND PLACE

1. The race will be held on March 30, 2008 in the streets of Warsaw.

2. The race will start at 10:00 a.m.

3. The length of the course is 21.0975 K (13.1 miles). The course is certified by the National Track and Field Federation.

4. Every kilometre will be marked with vertical and horizontal signs.

5. The start area comprises of two zones: the elite (race bibs 1 to 99) and the rest of the field.

III. TIME LIMIT

1. The time limit to complete the race is 3 hours.

2. The runners, who by 1:00 p.m. will not reach the finish line, are requested to step off the course or get to the finish line on the END OF RACE bus.

IV. REFRESHMENT STATIONS

1. Refreshment stations with water and isotonic drinks will be located approximately every 5 kilometres (total of
3 stations). A detailed plan of the stations will be published on the official race web site roughly one month prior to the race.

2. Time control will be made on kilometre 10.

V. PARTICIPANTS

1. Participation in the race is allowed only to individuals who will be 18 years old by March 30, 2008.

2. To participate in the race it is necessary to undergo identity check in the race office. The working hours of the race office will be:
March 29 (Saturday), 10.00 a.m. - 10.00 p.m.
March 30 (Sunday), 7.00 a.m. - 9.00 a.m.

The address of the race office: 56/66 Dobra St., (BUW - Warsaw University Library building).

3. Every participant will receive an individual race kit with a race bib, a timing chip, safety pins and a T-shirt.

4. To undergo the identity check one has to produce an ID with a photo and an entry fee payment confirmation (money transfer receipt). In case such documents are not presented the race kit will be not be given to the runner.

5. To successfully complete the identity check every runner will sign a waiver or present a medial certificate.

6. In order to pick another runner's race kit one has to produce: a personal authorisation to pick the race kit, a photocopy of the other runner's ID, an entry fee payment confirmation and a medical certificate allowing his/her participation in the race.

7. Any decisions of the medical staff made during the race on whether individual runners are allowed to continue the race are ultimate and are not subject to any claims.

8. The organizer undertakes to responsibility for cancelling or postponing the race.

9. The race participants must follow the applicable rules of the National Track and Field Federation and these regulations.

VI. APPLICATION

1. To register one has to fill in the entry form available at www.warsawmarathon.com or send a paper application to the address of the organizer:

2. Paper applications must reach the organizers' office by March 10, 2008. After this date the entry will be possible only via the web site or personally in the race office on March 29-30, 2008.

3. The end of the on-line registration will be on March 26, 2008. After this date the entry will be possible only in the race office.

4. An entry is considered complete if the application and the entry fee have been made.

VII. COMPETITION

1. The following categories will be present:
general men and women;
age groups: M-20, M-30, M-40, M-50, M-60, M-70 and M+80; F-20, F-30, F-40, F-50, F-60, F-70 and F+80;
team competition (see separate regulations).

VIII. PRIZES

1. Every finisher will receive a finisher's medal.

2. Winners of positions 1 to 6 in the general categories will receive prize money. The list of prize money is subject to a separate document.

3. Winners of positions 1 to 3 in the age groups will receive commemorative trophies.

4. Teams in positions 1 to 3 in the team competition will receive commemorative trophies.

IX. ENTRY FEES

1. To participate in the race it is necessary to pay the entry fee. The rates: 20 euros by February 29, 30 euros (by March 28), 40 euros (in the race office).

2. If a payment is made in insufficient amount the remaining difference must be paid by the runner during the identity check in the race office.

3. Special discounts on entry fees are available to citizens of: Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Slovakia, Czech
Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, the former Yugoslav republics and foreign residents in Poland bearing a resident's card. The special rates: PLN 35 by February 29, PLN 50 (by March 28), PLN 80 (in the race office).

4. Payments will be made via Davengo or Polcard systems available through www.warsawmarathon.com. Nota bene: the entry fee must be the amount that is finally transferred to the bank account of the race organizer. All
accompanying fees and charges must be incurred by the payer.

5. Persons born before 1942 participate in the race free of charge provided that they send in their entry form on or before February 29, 2008.

6. As soon as the entry fee is transferred to the bank account of the organizer a race number will appear on the start list next to the runner's name.

7. The organizers are not liable for loss of the entry form or the money order or the bank transfer through fault of the post office or the bank.
8. Once paid, the fee is not subject to reimbursement. It is not possible to transfer the paid amount onto another participant once it has been paid. There is no possibility to transfer the paid amount onto another event organized by the Foundation "Warsaw Marathon".

X. ACCOMMODATION AND BOARD

1. All those who tick on the entry form the accommodation reservation shall be provided by the organizers with a free place for the night at a sports hall on the night before the run. The organizers do provide neither mattresses nor sleeping bags. Referrals to lodgings shall be issued at the Race Centre. Competitors shall be put up for the night after showing their referrals. It is forbidden to bring in or to consume alcohol at the sports hall and to stay at the hall while drunk. Persons who do not observe this provision will be removed from the hall. Note! The entry form with the ticked reservation must reach the organizers by 29 Feb 2008 the latest.

2. As part of the start fee the competitor is entitled to the following gastronomic benefits: participation in the pasta party on the basis of a voucher being part of the start package, water and an isotonic drink on the route of the run and a regeneration package at the finish line.

3. The pasta party shall take place on 29 March between 16hrs-20hrs.

XI. FINAL PROVISIONS

1. During the run all competitors must have their start numbers attached to sports T-shirts on their chests. Covering start numbers in part or in whole or its modification is forbidden under the penalty of being disqualified.

2. Staying on the route of the 3rd Carrefour Warsaw Halfmarathon without a valid start number is prohibited. Persons without valid start numbers shall be removed from the route by the service crew of the run.

3. Written complaints regarding the results are to be received within 24 hours from the publication of the first, unofficial results of the halfmarathon on the website www.warsawmarathon.com. Complaints shall be investigated within 7 days.

4. Each participant of the halfmarathon, on the basis of a special participant's card (received from the organizers), has the right to purchase a PKP railway ticket with a reduction in relation to the price of a regular ticket for the journey to Warsaw and from Warsaw to the place of residence (the place where the ticket for the journey was issued). The condition for receiving from the organizers the participant's card is to send by 29 Feb 2008 a self addressed and stamped return envelope to the organizers.

5. The participants of the 3rd Carrefour Warsaw Halfmarathon will be able to take advantage of free masseur service after the run finishes.

6. The organizers shall provide medical care on the route and the finish line of the 3rd Carrefour Warsaw Halfmarathon.

7. The diploma for completion of the 3rd Carrefour Warsaw Halfmarathon to be printed by oneself will be posted on the website www.maratonwarszawski.com within 14 days from the finish of the halfmarathon.

8. After the completion of the run there will be carried out a random anti-doping control, to which each of the Commission-appointed competitors must undergo.

9. Competitors shall receive in the start package a bag marked with a start number, for any belongings deposited in a specially designated place next to the competition office. The bag may be claimed back only on the basis of the start number. In case the start number should get lost by the competitor, the organizers bear no responsibility for the bag being claimed by another.

10. After the run the competitors will be able to have a shower.

11. Only the organizers of the 3rd Carrefour Warsaw Halfmarathon have the right for the binding and final interpretation of these regulations.

REGULATIONS FOR TEAM CLASSIFICATION
OF THE 3RD CARREFOUR WARSAW HALFMARATHON

1. Teams representing sports clubs, companies, institutions, other communities as well as groups of competitors running under a common aegis may take part in the team classification.

2. A team consists of minimum 4 persons including minimum one woman. There is no upper limit of the number of members of a team.

3. Competitors who are members of subsequent teams are subject to the regulations of the Carrefour Warsaw Halfmarathon. One competitor may represent one team.

4. The captain is responsible for his/her team. He/She is the only person who:
* registers the team for participation in the team classification,
* decides about the line-up of the team,
* acts on behalf of the team,
* contacts with the organizers of the WM.

5. As the final result of the team shall be regarded the sum of four best times achieved by its members including minimum one woman. The winning team is the one whose sum of four mentioned times is the least. In case the run is completed by fewer than 4 competitors representing the team, the team shall not be classified.

6. The captain registers the team by sending its full line-up (forenames, surnames and the years of birth of the competitors) to the following address: info@maratonwarszawski.com, by fax to the following number +48 22 353 85 25 or by post to the address: Fundacja "Maraton Warszawski", ul. Grochowska 316/320, 03 - 839 Warszawa, Poland. Applications for registration of teams may be sent by 16 March 2008. After the 16 March any changes in the line-up of the teams shall not be possible.

7. The competitor declares he will to participate in a team by writing the blank entitled "Club/team" of the entry form the name of the appropriate team. The captain decides about qualifying a given competitor to a team by posting (or not) a competitor's name and surname in the line-up sent to the organizers. The captain may register for the start in his/her team only those competitors who in their individual entry forms in the blank entitled "Club/team/company" have entered the name of a given team.

8. Team classification is carried out as general classification. We do not divide into age categories here. The organizers reserve the right to organize internal classifications as part of team classification.

9. In case more than one team achieves identical results, the final order in the final classification shall depend on: first, the number of registered competitors (the higher the number - the higher the position) and then the times of the best competitors in a team.

10. The three best teams shall receive cups.
